A downloadable prototype

Praelium is a turn-based RPG that facilitates online co-operative play. Built in the Unity Engine, it utilises Photon to allow up to four people to play together in turn-based battles reminiscent of classic Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest games. After surviving each battle, players get to choose new skills and level up their stats before heading into the next fight, with the aim of surviving as many combat encounters as possible. Randomised elements such as available skills, enemy spawning and status effects keep each playthrough feeling fresh and exciting.

Submitted as my final year project for my Game Development degree in Bournemouth University, it serves as a prototype for the full game I'd like to make on the concept. The systems have been designed and built with future development as a focus whilst still serving to demonstrate the potential of the core gameplay within the limited time afforded to the project's development.

As of the moment, Praelium is technically functional, with many of the core systems in place and working well. However, I've opted to delay releasing a playable demo until I can be sure that the online element is secure and the gameplay is able to reflect the envisioned experience. Besides the screenshots on this page, a link to a YouTube video giving an overview of the game in action can be found here.
